{sneaky chef}

Doug and I are always trying to make sure Ian eats what he needs to.  He has always been a great eater.  At a fairly young age, he would love having tastes of whatever we were eating.  I guess I got used to him wanting our food and just assumed he would always eat whatever I put in front of him.  However, over time, he and vegetables developed a not so good relationship.  He would only eat them in baby food form!  So in order to get him to eat vegetables, I just kept buying baby food.  They have those awesome all-in-one veggie/fruit/grain pouches now, so that's what he's been eating for a while as a filler.

BUT, I recently had to have a little talk with myself which basically went like this "he'll eat what you feed him eventually, so face up to the reality that he's about to be 2 and quit buying baby food!"  I had to remind myself that he's a healthy boy and that not eating the exact amount of 'recommended portions' everyday is not going to hurt him.  So, I have resolved to quit buying the baby stuff and be more diligent about offering him real vegetables on a regular basis.  In the meantime, or until he starts eating them, I am being a sneaky momma and putting veggies in things I know he'll eat but won't necessarily realize they're in there.  Experiment number one was with scrambled eggs.  He loves cheesy scrambled eggs!  All I did was grate up some yellow squash and mixed it in with the egg and cheese before I threw it in the pan to cook.  It went over very well with him!  I have some other 'sneaky' ideas--I'll share my successes {or failures} as they come!

{give me the simple life}

If you had asked me on January 1st what my 'resolution' was for the year, I would have told you "I don't have one!"  I do, however, have a goal...not just for this year but for the years to come.  One word.  SIMPLIFY.  So often, I have so much going on that I cannot seem to focus on the things that matter the most. I know that as the years come and go and our family grows, life will most likely become more and more complicated.  But, that doesn't mean I can't try, right?

I created this blog as a journal for documentation purposes.  So, if you don't care to hear about every cute little thing our little boy does and see hundreds of pictures of my fabulous family, this is not the blog for you!

I hope that as this year progresses and I look back on my journal, I will see that I focused on what matters most in my life:  God, family, and friends.

Simple day: rain, sbux latte, and jammies
